Hello, i have an i7 3770k on a sabertooth z77 mobo, I have just bought a hyper 212evo turbo edition (two fans).

I wanted to overclock via BIOS, so I changed the multiplier to 43 and the blck frequency to 103, and left everything else to auto, thus achieving a 4.4GHz speed. The system changed the memory frequency to 1648 (xmp).

I ran prime95 for an hour and the maximum temp I got is 63c.

I have heard people having much more trouble while overclocking the 3770k, so is there anything wrong with my temp sensor ? or is it normal to have such temps ?

also how can I be completely sure i did nothing wrong ?

Did you check CPU-Z to make sure the speeds are actually sticking? If they are, then I see no reason to believe why they aren't real. The Hyper 212 Evo is a great cooler, so I wouldn't be that surprised with those temps.

I heard intel later has improved the internal sh!ty thermal paste and thus lot of newer cpus exhibiting less temp compared to before.

Also your coller is with dual fan better colling and also I belive your room temp isn't high either so your in a win situation!

Belive it or not those temps are real!

So ya enjoy

i did not use CPU-Z, I used a tool in the Ai Siut II (it came with the mobo), it shows the frequency for each core.

The speed remained ~4400 when I played crysis 3 and when I ran prime95. It drops to ~1600 only when idle (at windows doing nothing), which I think is a feature in the CPU or the mobo.

Well then, lucky you! Not many people get a CPU that runs that cool!

Thank you, I heard in some articles that people have different experiences when overclocking i7 3770k, due to intel mistakes.

I didn't measure ambient, but the room feels chilly. I don't think I will have same results in the summer, but then I will upgrade to a cooler cooler (pun unintended) like the jing and use the two fans of the 212evo as intake chassis fans.
