w7 not opening after new motherboard fitted

I have just fitted a replacement mobo but w7 64bit will not open. I saw a reply to a similar post from Quenlin and tried his suggestion "12. You will now type DISM /Image:C:\ /Add-Driver /driver D:\ /recurse " I am told that it does not recognize D:\ /recurse. Does anyone know how to get this working. I have the W7 home premium cd and the new mobo's cd. The previous mobo and the new one are both ASUS

Do the motherboards have different chipsets? Usually when you replace a motherboard with one of a different chipset(even of they are from the same manufacture) you need to reinstall the OS.

yes the old one is about 4 years old but Quenlin reckons you can get it going by loading the drivers using the dos commands

What bignastyid said, BUT an easier solution may be to boot into a windows 7 disc and just run a windows repair. That will replace the old drivers with generic win7 drivers allowing you to get into windows.

unfortunately you do not get the option to reload drivers just the windows startup repair which does not work.

You sure? How doe sit not work? Doing it via Command promt won't work if your ethernet drivers don't work. Which is probable if you can not get it. Try getting into safemode.
