Hi
I am looking for 1TB external USB3 HDD for media storing and playing directly from HDTV. I have used "My passport" for some month and satisfied. Now being confused with slightly cheaper "Element SE" version. It does not contain some backup software WD provides on "My passport". My confusion is if build quality (and durability) is compromised in "Element SE" in comparison to "My passport".

Model no:

  • Element SE = WDBPCK0010BBK
    My passport = WDBBEP0010BBK
From de-codification above model no something may come out,But I dont know the de-codification.

Please en-light me.Thanks in advance.

Though I am not looking at any other solution than specified to But I have to acknowledge your option is awesome. Scalable,flexible... I was thinking of such a system for home media storage.Glad to know that it is being sold somewhere. Unfortunately it is yet to come in my country. However thank you JackNaylorPE for that link.

Well I had to go for "My passport" as with a offer going on I got it cheaper than other.Using it since Apr 13 till date.No problem found.I moved all files/softwares provided by WD on this drive to my PC and using the drive in my smart TV. Daily use is minimum one hour. During use the TV access file sized anywhere from some Mb upto 3.5GB.
