Connecting D-Link 615 to D-Link 615

Hi,

I have two D-Link 615 routers, one with a connection to the internet. Would it possible to connect the two via an Ethernet cable out of a LAN socket on the router with the internet connection into the second's internet socket and, if so, how would I achieve this? I have already tried to connect them without setting changes which did not work.

Bonus: If at all possible I would also like to use the Wi-Fi on both of the routers (ie. have them act as if they are one Wi-Fi point but are actually two). I don't know if this is something that actually makes sense, but if not having the second be able to act as a standalone Wi-Fi point would work too.

Thanks for any help you can provide :)

Thanks, this has made the internet work. However, I can no longer get to the settings on the router. I have tried the IP address that my computer tells me it is using but I just get "This web page is not available" in Chrome and Firefox.

I would like to either disable the wireless on this router or make it a part of the already existing network - but without the settings I can't attempt either of these!

You should be able to put a IP on the lan interface of the router within the range of your current router. If for example your main router was 192.168.1.1 you could put 192.168.1.254 on the other device. You will likely need to directly connect it to your PC to get it configured and then put it on the network after.

What effect would this have? The access point works, I just need to change the wireless settings. However, I cannot do so as I can no longer connect to the router settings page even when the router acting as the access point is connected directly to a PC.

Thanks, that seems to have done the trick :)
