Ok so Ive been able to figure out how to overclock my i5 3570k and my graphics cards but I cant seem to find a guide or resources on hw to overclock the RAM.

I have 4x4GB (16gb) of crucial ballistix sports cl9 ram on a asrock extreme 4 mobo. How far can these sticks of ram go and what settings in my bios should I change them too?

I have 8GB of the same RAM on an AMD system.

I know the RAM is linked with my CPU and is running stable with the CPU OC'd at 4.3 from 3.8 stock and the RAM is around 1720 or so.

So far so good.

Sorry I can't offer you more technical advice.

All ram/board/cpu combinations are a bit difference. So you would have to slowly try to increase the speed OR tighten the timings to see how far you can go.

Again, with memory overclocking it is based on many things.

For example I am running some 1.65 volt ram with slight tightened timings on 1.35 volts(gives me a guess my memory may overclock well). Just lucky.

I have never seen huge improvements with memory overclocking.

Old thread. But I would like to know the same thing. I have HyperX 1600 ram now that I easily can clock all the way up to 2400. The timings are key. I have though been running them 1866 with 9-10-9-27 timings. Would the Crucial be able to do the same? I Want to buy an 8gb kit and run in dual channel with my HyperX´s. Each pair together of course.

Ok, so pretty much like a CPU then? Many can hit same speeds with a 8320 as a 8350, but odds are that you wont. Same with ram then? So would it be more likely to be able to hit 1866 with a 1600 set over a 1333 set? Always seen those 2 as the same dimms with different factory settings. My HyperX timings are taken stright from the side of HyperX Beast dimm. Tested the timings and has never had a hardfreeze or crash because of it.

Faster memory and memory with tighter timings do have a better chance of overclocking. Also lower voltage memory may push better with a slight voltage bump.

I even had some cheap ddr2 that with a very small bump in voltage could jump from 667 - 800 with the same timings it had at 667. This put cheap ram on par with some more expensive stuff.

Ok. Good to know. Feels like I have a good shot. What gets me is the price diff, 1600-1866, when it is pretty much the same dimms. I will try. If it not works, well, not that big of a deal in performance anyway so. Thx. =)
