Where to start...I built this a couple months ago:

Corsair HX650 PSU
i5-2500k
MSI Radeon 7770 GHz
WD Caviar Black 1 TB HD
Cooler Master Elite 120
Asrock Z77E-ITX

When I put it together and tried to connect the fan to the mobo, it fried, smoke poured out etc. I got it to work by wrapping electrical tape around the end and connecting it to the PSU. Just the last few days, the computer keeps trying to start and I will occasionally get it to the post screen after 12 or so attempts, but tonight it went about 14 attempts and made a weird noise and I'm pretty sure it's done. Is it the mobo?

I cut off and taped the end that had fried (this, by the way, was after I fried the first molex cable at the same spot) so I could at least plug the the other end into the PSU. Two molex cables fried in this attempt...

When you cut off and taped the ends, you kept them from touching right? Short circuits cause all kinds of problems.

No part should have every fried. You need to be extra careful if you are new.

If you have any images of the parts that burned, maybe we can see what happened.
