First off let me apologize if this is the wrong section, I'm pretty new here and this seemed like the best bet. Now to the topic at hand, I just finished my first build on my computer and all the parts I ordered are new and in perfect working condition except the hard drive, I took that from an old computer for the time being until I am able to get a new one. My problem is on windows there is a pretty extreme lag, (5-10 second waits when opening simple things like windows explorer) I have no clue what it might be but it makes my computer nearly unusable. I have tried reinstalling windows and the same problem occurred so I'm pretty sure it is not a problem with the OS. Also I don't know if this will help too much but when I load up games it is completely fine for example in skyrim (apart from the extremely long load times) I am pulling 60+ fps on ultra. Since I can't get a new hard drive at the current time I'd like to know if my hard drive is biting the dust or if there is anything I can do to salvage it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My build in case that helps:

MoBo: Gigabyte GA-970a-DS3
CPU: FX 8320
Graphics Card: 7870 GHZ Edition
PSU: Antec 80 plus certified 550W
HDD: Seagate 7200 ST3160212SCE 160 GB 3.5 Internal Hard Drive - SATA/300 - 7200 rpm

i would suggest to first ran chkdsk or scandisk to see if there is an error on it after that

try downloading and installing: http://www.seagate.com/support/external-hard-drives/portable-hard-drives/wireless-plus/seatools-win-master/

to check your drive health.
