First off, here's my specs.
I use my PC for gaming. And lots of it.

i7-2600k 3.40GHz
8GB RAM
500wPSU (Replacing with 650W ASAP)
7870 iceq
1920x1080 monitor
(I play on 1440x900 for better FPS)

Question number 1: Would upgrading to a 7950 iceq be worth upgrading to, with games like Battlefield 4 coming out? I also play Planetside 2 with FPS that could be higher.

Question number 2: I've heard the 7950 iceq takes up 3 PCI slots and I don't know exactly what that means.

Question number 3: Would it be more worth it to go with the 7970 Iceq X2?

Thanks. Sorry if I left out anything important, I'll update it if I did.

The IceQ's cooler is so large that despite only consuming two slots, its fan dips slightly into the third. Not terribly important unless you were planning on running it in Crossfire and only had a motherboard with no spacing between the PCIe slots. Personally I think the card you have now is plenty strong, a 7950 doesn't represent a big leap in terms of performance, if you aren't happy, just overclock it. If I were you I'd be waiting for the next series of GPU's and then move on.

Also, frightening you play at that resolution. Just play at 1080p and turn some settings down :)

Eh, I prefer FPS over high res but that doesn't mean I don't like high res. Do you think a 7970 would be worth the upgrade? Also, you say wait for the 8000 series. Do we know when that's due?

I can max out BF3 on 1920x1080, it just drops 10-15 frames in certain areas or in large combat. I just prefer a consistent FPS above 60. If you don't mind dropping a few frames every now and then this card is great. For Planetside 2 though, on max settings it goes 30-40 fps in those battles with 200v200 people. But that's to be expected.
