Basically that it is SATA III and at least x16 speed DVD. The only time it would be used for gaming would be for installing the game. Few modern games use CD authentication as online authentication has become the norm.
In my opinion, one doesn't even need an optical drive anymore. Windows can be installed via flash drive while movies and games have have become largely digitally distributed. I'd say save the ~$20 and put it towards a better graphics card.
