Sony Vegas pro 12 Blue Screen when loading save files

Hey guys,

Since Thursday I haven't been able to render videos using Vegas 12. I load a save, and most of the time it blanks me out into a Blue Screen error saying:

"DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL"

Loading into windows, I get this info:

Spoiler
Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.1
Locale ID: 2057

Additional information about the problem:
BCCode: d1
BCP1: 0000000000000000
BCP2: 0000000000000002
BCP3: 0000000000000001
BCP4: FFFFF880049D4069
OS Version: 6_1_7600
Service Pack: 0_0
Product: 256_1

I've found the blue screen is caused by atikmdag.sys with a drop out of 0x000000D1, and atikmdag.sys is part of the AMD graphics drivers.

I've got a minidump if it would help. (mediafire link)

Things I've tried

Reinstalled of Windows (and reinstalled of vegas)
Reinstalled graphics drivers (12.8,13.1,13.2 beta and 13.3 beta)
memtest86: 4 passes, no errors (but will run it overnight tonight)

Other things which could help narrow it down:
Vegas has been rendering very slowly (when it works), no settings difference, but OpenCL seems to not be working now - it runs at almost the same speed as my laptop rendering!

Does anyone know what's going on?

Thank you for your time.

p.s: Sorry if this is in wrong section, I don't know what it would come under seen as it could be a hardware problem or software/drivers problem.

[EDIT: Added error code.]

What is your OS, Windows 7 x32/64, Widows 8 x32/64?

You need to list all your hardware specs, it might be an under-powered PSU or lack of ram.

You'd need at least an i5 cpu, 8gb or ram, and 750 watt PSU.
You need at least 25% free space on the OS hdd, and a video card not less than 1gb vram.

The atikmdag.sys is a Windows Vista OS system file for the ATi (AMD) GPU.

I'm using a 1090T 8GB RAM with 850W bronze certified PSU, and a 6870, on Windows 7 home premium x64. Everything was fine before Thursday, so I have no idea what's happening.

I found a link about the atikmdag.sys file you should try out -

Ok, I tried that before, and I've done it again (first time it didn't work, put me back to original windows drivers for whatever reason), and it seemed to let me back into Vegas, although loading a project it still froze me, but without a blue screen, it was more like a system-wide crash, with no errors at all. mouse stopped, nothing worked, although I could hard-reset.

I've now hopefully fixed the problem (I just deleted the old projects and started new ones) and I've not had the freezing, or blue screens since. Thanks for all the help!

If the old projects were done in an earlier version of Sony Vegas or a different video card or different PC then problems as such might occur. Also, I just noticed a reference to the word "laptop", is this a laptop you are using?

You should refer to the system requirements of Sony Vegas 12 -
