Nvidia drivers stop working while overclocking :(

Hi , my gpu is a EVGA GTX650 Ti SSC and its super clocked from factory , but i just tried to get a little more of this gpu the problem is that when i overclock it with the software that comes with it Precision X and start to play for example skyrym the nvidia drivers suddenly stop working and the overclock is reseting to default even i only overclock like 50 Mhz , In fact the screen freezed one time while playing skyrym but it could be two things , one the overclocked gpu or two my stupidity of letting my cpu overheating while using the stock fan hitting 95 c in each core , what do you think?

Its important to say that while in overclock i have been to pass some bencharks like 3d mark and valley , but sometimes get the same error of nvidia drivers stop working .


Another thing is that i tried to reinstall drivers but my screen went crazy , the strange thing is that i turned off my monitor and then on and the problem was gone so wtf!

To be honest.. it will sound bigger to newbies :) But don't worry, you have 1350 MHz memory. 1hz is two jumps in one second (up and down). So 1350 MHz is acctually 2700 data rate but they like to go with MHz description because that is effective memory. When GDDR5 is described that effective memory is 4*memory clock.

It may be a little confusing but it's not something to break your neck for :)

Just stick with stock clocks and you'll be fine :)

95c for a cpu is too high
you shouldnt exceed 85c both for cpu and gpu
also @ certain points in certain games the overclock you have cant keep up
so it stops with the error. I would only worry if it happens even @ stock
Also any overclock requires additional voltage otherwise crash.
solution@ add more volt, monitor temp increase fan speed so should be stable.


Edit: You can also shorten the life of the gpu by doing the test over and over again @ extreme condition.

Of course i got the volt an upgrade , its at 1115 volts , the temperature always is at 70c maximum , and the fan is in auto . But the drivers stop working its a way to say that the overclock is unstable , and can i damage the gpu by doing the test over and over again?

the problem is that if i only go like 50 mhz more the thing crashes in game or stops using drivers , but if i let at stock settings its works fine , and its dangerous to the gpu making all of this testing of overclock , stop working , freezing?

Damaging your GPU is not excluded but it is not common to happen if you don't push it to hard.
EVGA GTX650 Ti SSC can go up to 1140 core and 1885 on memory max. But remember that not all video card's (even same exact models) can be overcloked on same clocks.
So, try to lower clocks a bit.

so the memory is at 5400 , so how is it possible that when a run valley benchmark says that the memory its 2700? When i incremented to the max the screen went to a blue soft color , so it isnt at 5400 memory like it says on the specs?

The gpu is the 1 gb version

Please don't do that ever, ever again.

Your memory is 1350Mhz. It can be "read" as double speed 2700 or 5400. Those are effective speeds.

Something simillar to DDR2 800MHz. It's 400Mhz but two way so it's effective 800MHz speed.

I gave you stock speeds that you are supposed to have in my previous post.

Don't overclock it that far, cards death is certain with that.

Go for like 1100 core clock and maybe 1400 Mhz memory. That should be stable for your model altough i don't know what are you trying to achieve. It's not like you'll make any great difference.

So if the specs say that the effective memory is 5400 i have to 1350 x 2 = 2700 x2 = 5400 ? Wow thats very confusing , why the manufacturer just put 1350 MHz on the specs?
