I had a virus on my pc which AVG has removed, now I can't restore back to any checkpoints. Had this problem before and an engineer came out and changed the extension of a checkpoint file, restored back to that point and problem fixed. How do I find the file to do this myself and what extension should I make it. Any help most appreciated. Thanks Karen

i think we need a little more info here. First of all, i think we are talking about a restore point? And you PC or laptop doesn't start after the virus cleaning? Or is it a more specific problem why you want to restore it to previous state?

From your blank post, Kaz2013, can we take it you don't have any more information? Restore Points are stored in a Hidden folder in the C:\ drive and you could probably have to take Ownership of that folder to get to them so it's probably best left alone.
Why do you want to restore back to a time before AVG cleaned your system? You might be back where you started. If anything, it's better to wipe all the old RPs and create a new one you know is safe.
