Hi, im a noob builder and have just built my first pc for gaming. Everything is working fine apart from audio, it keeps cutting in and out. i've downloaded the latest drivers for my MOBO and GPU and still it happens however when i connect my headset via usb it works fine.
i assumed when i connected my headset via usb the audio is output from the integrated GPU? So i decided to take out my GPU (7950) and voila the audio is perfectly normal now.
Does this mean i need to return my GPU?

Sound card is not in GPU. Its usually integrated in mobo/in RARE cases in CPU. Maybe your speakers are problem. Just dont use speakers in computer (sometimes they are there too) since theyre bad and if you got special one you should make sure that cables are ok and clean input. If it still doesnt work buy some cheap speakers or/and sound card.

Hope it helps!

oh right, thats odd as i assumed there might be a sound card in the gpu because the audio is fine until i install the GPU. i use a hdmi cable to my hdtv.

Maybe you messed drivers or something. That might do something. Not all versions of HDMI transport sound. But if it worked before it should work now too. Or your PSU isnt good enough for that monster card.
