I have a new Intel system which every few days will freeze completely - not pingable, keyboard mouse not working, screen off.

Components:

Intel Core i7 3770K CPU
Asus P8Z77-V LX MB (with up to date BIOS)
32GB (4x8GB) Corsair DDR3 Vengeance
2xWD Caviar Red 2TB hard drives (software RAID 1)
2 x Dell 24" (1220x1200) monitors on HD 4000 onboard DVI and HDMI ports
750W Corsair Power Supply

Running Fedora 18 with the latest updates.

The freeze is completely unpredictable, most often happens when system is not in use with screens powered off by software. After power down and boot system is fine again.

Any ideas?

Memory is PC3-12800 (1600MHz) (Corsair part CMZ32GX3M4A1600C9). Not sure Windows 7 reference is relavant - it is just saying you need Windows 7 for USB3 support.

Not familiar with RAID or mirror drives, it could be related to that option.
"software RAID 1", actually never heard of software RAID.

You might have to refer yor Question in the Linux Category -

Other than that, it might be a problem with free space on the OS hdd. Linux is a guzler for virtual memory so, even though you have 32gb of ram, it could be a lack of free space. Not sure whether Fedora 18 would have a "defrag" option or something similar.

Hey,

It could be your RAM. Download Memtest and then take out all your RAM but one stick and test it in memtest. Then test each stick of RAM to make sure that its not getting any errors. Also make sure the timings and speeds are properly set in your BIOS.

Hope this helps!
