hello, im building my first computer and relized that the graphics card i chose (Asus GeForce GT 640 Silent Video Card - 2GB GDDR3, PCI-Express 3.0 (x16), 2x Dual-Link DVI-D, 1x D-Sub (VGA), 1x HDMI, DirectX 11.1, Dual-Slot, Fan) is pci express 3.0 x16 and my motherboad (Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 AM3+ Motherboard - ATX, Socket AM3+, AMD 990FX/SB950, DDR3 1866 MHz, SATA III (6Gb/s), RAID, 8-CH Audio, Gigabit LAN, USB 3.0, PCIe 2.0, CrossFireX Ready) says something about a 2.0 interface. the motherboard is supposedly top of the line so shouldnt it support a basic graphics card. My processor is the AMD FX-8320 Eight-Core 3.5GHz AM3+ Processor if thats any help. Will that mother board support that graphics card or do i need an upgrade?

Best solution

a b U Graphics card
a b V Motherboard
