I'm looking at purchasing a refurbished Dell server, and they have a special right now where i could get a server with 2x2.0Ghz quad xeon E5405 with 16GB RAM for the same price as 2x2.33Ghz quad Xeon E5410 with 8GB RAM. Which should i go for? This will be used as a home server mainly for data hosting on my LAN, but i might be running a VM to learn on, and eventually DHCP as well. Ideas?

Solution
For a home users either is more than acceptable.

If you want the extra speed, go with the faster cpu, If you think you will have lots of VM's running, the extra ram may help more.

I was going to use Handbrake to do the encoding, which is all CPU based, so i think i should be fine with a GPU, but that's as a last case scenario, my main machine can do it, but it does take awhile to do so, even with a Core2Quad 2.83Ghz. I would like to have that option open to me though.
