Acer Aspire 5551-A Laptop Screen white with ink type blotches

Hi Guys


Hope that you are all well.


I had the misfortune of dropping my Acer Aspire 5551-A Laptop this morning and found the screen to be all white with what appeared to be an ink-type blotch on the side. I have read up on the web as to what it could be and it appears the LCD is leaking as a result of the fall. You can still see things going on on the screen but it is just all white.


Does this mean a new laptop screen will need fitting and can someone also let me know if i will need to replace the inverter board?


it still works on an external monitor thankfully !!

based on your description it sure sounds like the screen is broken. the rest of the other parts inside are protected and likely fine so long as the casing didn't get smashed/cracked as well.
you could replace the screen, but it'd likely not be worth the cost to fix. i suspect you're looking at a junking it.
fortunately it also sounds like it otherwise still runs (you say you can see things going on on the screen), which means you likely haven't lost files or anything like that. you can plug it into an external monitor (your model has HDMI and VGA ports) to retrieve what you need to.
