I recently installed a freshly formatted hard drive into an machine that came with Win 8. I inserted my legally registered Win 7 instalation disc but all it does is keep telling me no boot sector found.

I know that newer machines come with UEFI and have read somewhere that is the problem.
Can anyone tell me step by step how to reset the BIOS so I can install Win 7? Thanks in advance for your help.

Whatever button your motherboard uses to access the BIOS (F2, F12, DEL, whatever), press that during power on. Somewhere in there, there is a configuration for boot devices and order. Select the DVD drive as the first device.

Currently, it appears that it is only seeing the blank hard drive. And therefore the No Boot Sector error message.

Each mobo and BIOS is a little different. Instead of just arrow down, arrow right.
Boot order is in there somewhere.
