i asked a week ago about getting one of the 7870XT and a ssd Since i bought my ssd on sale i decided to use that extra money on a more powerful gpu like a 7950 one of my friends told my that they are junk and the 660s are the best bang for buck id like to keep this under $300 and if the GTX 660 is indeed a better buy $200 or so would be a lot better than $300 also i plan on keeping this gpu for at least 3 years or so before i do a completely new computer

I mostly play Diablo 3, Starcraft 2, BF3, Civ5, and future games (battlefield 4, Bioshock infinite, crysis 3) as possibilities

here is my computer

AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition
SAPPHIRE Vapor-X Radeon HD 4870 1GB
ASUS M4A89TD PRO
16 GB (4X4) G.SKILL Ripjaws Series DDR3 1066 (PC3 8500) F3-8500CL7D-8GBRL
Antec TPQ-850 850W
SAMSUNG 840 250 GB arriving shortly in the mail
Western Digital WD Black WD7501AALS 750GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache
SAMSUNG 22" 1680 x 1050 main display
SAMSUNG 23" 1920 X 1080 mostly for xbox and watching movies though i do swap them on occasion

Solution
Radeon 7950 is the fastest of the two. It's also slightly faster than a GTX 660 TI in some titles.

However if you want the absolute best bang for your buck, then the new GTX 650 ti boost has the best price/performance value on the GPU market. They're priced around 170$ I believe, and you can go SLI with those. GTX 650 ti boost performs better than a Radeon 7850.

If you want the best peformance, then two GTX 650 ti boost are the best you can get. If you want the best single GPU performance, then the Radeon 7950 is the best you can get. :)

Yea but you did not include the fact that it was only the Boost edition that was able to SLI. :na:

would you have any recommendations on any particular cards id prefer a factory overclocked card with a decent warranty
