Can some of the experts here tell me how far dual GPU sli goes? Like is dual 560s better than a 670 or dual 670s better than a 690? How does one calculate the "dual" rating of a GPU. I see benchmarks for individual cards, but you cannot simply double the score when you double the GPU. Anyone know?

Thanks,

Garrick

A single 660Ti has the same performance of SLi'd 560Ti's so yes,a single 670 would be better.

I would say in the few times I have tried sli that it varies depending on the games support for multi gpu but usually you get an additional 60-80% more with a second gpu. Other people have told me that sli and crossfire is getting better but I have always had such terrible luck since you are still so reliant on a profile to run them that i will only ever buy one good high end single gpu card from now on.

You need to look at the cards being SLi'd and the single card that they are being compared to, for the most part cards like the GTX560Ti will out perform the GTX580 when SLi'd but trying to compare them to the next series (like the GTX670) is not so easy or straightforward because they are different GPU's (Fermi Vs Kepler).

To be more clear I would say if you had dual 560's and couldn't get what you needed out of them then jump up to a 670. If a 670 wasn't enough jump to a dual 670 if you don't mind sli. If thats not enough then you had best sign up to sell an organ and go get the titan(<-- which is a fantastic card just not the price)

Surely if you had dual 560's then you wouldn't have an issue with running dual 670's, no?

What i meant was that if you are having problems with dual 560's say not running a game adequately then jump up to 670. If still not enough then go to duals 670's. And so on.

edit:
I would think that a single 670 would surpass dual 560's in terms of power not to mention the additional vram to crank up the resolution and effects.
