The temp in the bios is 80 degree before the pc powers down to protect the cpu. Your advise is sound b/c whenever I remove the panels and place a fan on the cpu it stays at around 70 and the pc remains on.
The only MBO's empty post is a three pin marked system fan. I ordered a 12v 90mm 3-pin fan and expect to replace the thermal paste and remove the dust b/c the system is 7-8 years old. The cpu fan is set in the MBO four pin post. There are no other posts. Are there other fans powered by molex of sata connectors from the aux power supply connectors?
Also, if this doesn't repair the problem is it an early indication that the MBO is on its way out?
