Blue screen error when playing games on high settings

I built my computer about 1 year ago and never had any issues until recently. I've run all the games I've wanted at maximum settings without so much as a performance issue. Now, if I have my settings turned up below minimum on the same games that used to run perfectly, I crash. The monitor will suddenly go blank and act like there is nothing even connected. I have to do a hard restart, and when it comes back on it states that it went through a blue screen error. The problem only happens while playing games and only on high settings. When the games are turned down to the absolute lowest, there is absolutely no issue. Even when turned to medium, the crash still occurs. It appears that there is a correlation to how high the graphics options are set and how long it takes it to crash. At highest settings, it will last maybe 10 minutes. Turning options lower and lower extends the life of it, but so far only the absolute minimum settings have gone for hours without shutting off.

I have: intel i5-2500 3.3ghz
nvidia 560ti
8 GB of RAM
Running Win7 64 bit

Sounds like a thermal overload issue.

1. Have you cleaned out your CPU and GPU heatsinks recently ?
2. Are all fans operating ?
3. What are GPU / CPU temps at time of failure ?
4. What is the stop code error on the BSOD ?
5. What does Event Viewer report ?
6. Have you run a GPU test such as OCCT, Furmark while monitoring temps and voltages ?

Turned out that something was loose on my GPU and one of the fans on it was not spinning. I managed to snap it back into place and the fan is going again and there have been no crashes since. What is a good program to keep track of my GPU temperature to see if it ever becomes loose again?
