System failure when running games/pcmark.

So I recently reinstalled Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit and now I'm encountering a problem with the computer randomly restarting a few minutes into a game. There is no BSOD or anything, it just randomly restarts. I tried running PcMark7 and it did the same thing at step 2 storage - gaming. When I check my temps, I am noticing that the GPU is getting hotter, quicker than it used to, so I sped the fan up on it and got it to stabilize at around 64c, but I still get the crashes.
Honestly, from the sleuthing I've done, it almost seems like it might be the motherboard given that the GPU doesn't seem half as hot as the heatsink next to it. Again, it only happens with gaming or pc/3dmark. Even Furmark seems to run ok, granted I've only run it for 8-10 minutes, but it usually takes less time than that for a game to crash.

Any input is appreciated. Thanks. :)

-I can provide full system specs when I get home if necessary.

Always best to provide full specs, it could be the PSU being under-powered and the video card straining t get more power, leaving less for other hardware.

Also state what game toy are playing, it might be an older game more suited to XP.

I doubt it is the motherboard, yo have to make sure that your ram and cpu are part of the requiremnts of it, and that any overclocking is accounted for with the PSU, as OC does take extra voltage.

Do you use any internal fans?
Is the PC kept in an enclosed area that might restrict air flow and ventilation?
Do the specs of the game match your hardware?

You might want to try a lower resolution in the Game Video options menu.

Sorry for the delay in response, life caught up to me.

My system specs are as follows:
Mobo: Asus M5A97
Ram: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
Gpu: Sapphire AMD Radeon HD 7850 2gb
Cpu: AMD FX-4100 Zambezi 3.6GHz (3.8GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ 95W Quad with a COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 EVO in place of stock cooler.
Psu: CORSAIR TX Series CMPSU-650TX 650W ATX12V / EPS12V
Case: COOLER MASTER HAF 912 RC-912-KKN1 Black SECC/ ABS Plastic ATX Mid Tower
I also tossed in a XIGMATEK FCB (Fluid Circulative Bearing) Cooling System XLF XLF-F2004 200mm.

It had been running fine since I built it around 7 months ago. I haven't had any problems with temps and I've recently sweeped my drivers and reinstalled them as well as the BIOS, but still the same problem.
Also, I notice it most often when gaming (I mostly just play Skyrim.) It will happen usually after a couple of hours game time, and then it seems to become more frequent after it happens once, sometimes as soon as I go to load my save. The only other times I recall it happening is when I'm watching Netflix in Chrome, switch to another tab, and then as soon as I click on the Netflix tab again, boom; also when running pcmark7 as I had mentioned, however, I ran pcmark again the other day and it followed through fine.

It was formatted. I had come back to Windows from a relatively brief Debian install and hadn't bothered with partitioning.
And yes, Windows is completely updated.

Did you delete all the partitions including the hidden ones?
A format does not generally format hidden partitions, only the drives with a drive letter and some hidden partitions don't have a drive letter.

If you don't delete the partitions (shut down then format) you could end up with whatever other OS you had installed, or parts thereof.

If that is not the issue then you need to check your temps.
