Strange Graphics Glitch that Locks Up Computer

Hey guys,

So recently (and very randomly/infrequently) my computer will glitch and the screen will freeze completely. I lose all mouse and keyboard input, and I can't bring up Task Manager. I'm obviously unable to take a screenshot, and I can't find anything on Google that resembles it.

The first time it occurred, it would happen whenever I ran PeerBlock. I have no clue why those two things are connected, but it's the only correlation I've seen.

I'll do my best to describe the glitch.

A split second before it completely freezes up, my mouse will freeze in place. Then the screen will change to a random assortment of 1-2 inch horizontal lines of varying colors. The lines are arranged in rectangles and are arranged step-wise across the screen. That's pretty much all I can do to describe it. Next time it happens, I'll take a picture with my phone and upload it.

Did you ever find a solution to this? I'm having the same freezes, with the addition that I can't wake from sleep mode without unplugging my pc. Very frustrating as I can't even tell which piece of hardware or software is giving me issues.

Nope, never found anything out. I was advised to check the connections between Mobo and GPU, though. Haven't done that because the issue hasn't really presented itself again. As I said, the only way to replicate it 100% of the time is to attempt to run PeerBlock. As soon as the software starts, I get that error.
