Hey guys, I will be getting my tax return this week which means I can finally buy a new computer! My old laptop is just not cutting it anymore to the point where it pretty much can't run anything. So, I basically can't game at the present time which needs to change. Below is the build that I was able to come up with. I might do some overclocking in the future, I'm really not sure yet. I will not be crossfiring as I just won't have the need to do so. Game that I will be playing include Diablo 3, Simcity, Dayz when it is released, Guild Wars 2, Elder Scrolls Online upon release, and Walking Dead to name a few.

My main concerns are the motherboard and PSU. Are the two that I have picked good choices for my build? I try to stick to stuff that is rated pretty well, both of which are. These are two areas I really don't know a lot about.

Let me know what you guys think about the build overall and what changes I might need to make. I may need a monitor, I can't decide if I want to use my TV as one to save some money or not. My TV is 39 in. 1080p 120hz.

Budget is $1000-1500 with the the latter being the absolute highest (this is including the monitor if I decide to get one). However, I would like it to be as close to the lower side of the budget as I can get it.

looks good. not much else to change except for maybe looking for a better deal outside of Newegg. if you got a Microcenter nearby, you should be able to pick it up for a whole lot less over anywhere else.

One concern I had was whether or not the Video Card will fit into the case I have selected. Everyone says that is one thing to make sure of. How will I know whether or not it does?

All the parts look good but I would think about getting an ssd for your boot up atleast around $90 for a 128 GB. Even a regular 840 at $100 right now will be an amazing improvement over the hard drive for boot up and game loads, Keep the hd for media, sd for windows and frequent games.

in the worst case scenario that the GPU is too long , you can always remove the the top HDD cage. if you plan to use the top cage, then you may have a problem. if getting another case is out of the question, the only thing i can recommend you is invest in an external HDD for storage if the two bottom bays & the 2x 2.5" bays are used up.

600 should be enough if you can get a 650 or more for no more than $10 extra I would go for it, more than that I would stick with 600 watts

Hey guys, I made a few revisions to my build in the original post. Let me know what you think about this one and how the two compare. I changed to the i5-3470 and the H77 mobo because after thinking about it, I just don't see myself wanting to OC or having the need to do so. I will game and that's pretty much it.

A couple final questions are:

1. Do I need an aftermarket cooler if I'm not OCing
2. Will this GTX 670 fit in my selected case?

1- no
2- same answer the first time you asked. if the ridiculously long 5970 can fit in a Haf912, the 670 isn't going to be a problem.

as for wifi; only ever used a USB adapter at the office, with the most common complaint being random disconnection. on the plus side; it's plug and play. as for PCI/PCIe adapters, only heard of driver issues being commonly complained about. in both cases, i keep seeing people recommending getting one with an antenna or two.
