Western Digital 1TB WD Blue, SATA III, 7200RPM, 64MB
VS
Western Digital 500GB WD Black, SATA III, 7200RPM, 64MB

Why is the blue cheaper when the specs seem to be better?

Because the Black comes with a 5 year warranty.

The blue will be slightly faster and is larger, they're equally reliable, but the black has the warranty going for it. I'd personally go for the blue.
