I recently made a huge mistake, while doing some wire wrapping I accidentally shorted out my gaming rig. I freaked out so I took it to a computer repair place. They found that I fried my Motherboard so they RMA'd it. They reassembled it,but when they tried to boot it none of my three drives booted or responded. They tested the system with one of their HDD and everything worked gpu's in sli, sound card, CPU and optical drive. I think I may have fried my drives. I had a Crucial M4 256 ssd as a bootable drive and a Seagate 1tb data HD with about 800gb of files. I also had a 500gb Western Digital for overflow. I have been looking into data recovery places but they will probably charge over $400 which is a little steep for my budget. The two main drives are under warranty and I have another 64gb ssd with Windows on it. Does anybody know of a way to get the 1tb HDD to respond. Many family photos and documents. Thank you in advance from a very desperate gamer.

I believe if it is just the PCB controller or whatever its called on the hard drive that got short-circuited, then all you have to do is replace that with an equivalent one. You could possibly return it under warranty (not sure about this), or if your really desperate, then you could buy another identical one and replace the PCB with the new one.

But mate, I'm not sure as I have not personally done this.
