Today i got a new SSD for my pc, the Samsung 840 120GB. I already owned a 126GB Samsung 830(used as my C drive). I expected the 840 to be abit faster then the 830 but its a lot slower?

See "asahci64" in the 840 AS SSD benchmark ? That means you have not connected your SSD to a native Intel SATA 3 port, but to the AsMedia one instead. Avoid these, and use Intel native ones instead, which offer higher all-around performance. Once you do that, provided you've installed the Intel Rapid Storage drivers, that should change back "iaStor".

This being said, your Samsung 840 120 GB compared to the 830 128 GB is going to be slower in write speeds except random 4K values. However, it should be faster in other tests, those for read speeds especially.

For a complete perfomance upgrade you should have got the 840 Pro 128 GB instead, anyway.
It's to be expected that the 840 is a slight downgrade - it uses TLC NAND, which is poorer quality. Basically what it comes down to is that the 840 PRO is a considerable upgrade and 100% reliable, and the 840 non-pro is way, way cheaper for its size and 99% reliable, but slower.

So i changed over the sata port and the SSD ran even slower?'

EDIT:
Ok so i tried another sata3 port which was my sata3 #1 port and i got a much better result in read performance.
