so it may be a stupid idea but i think for me it might have its benefits (if it works)

right so i was thinking of setting up two monitors.. well my t.v. and a pc monitor for different applications, the question i have is , if one monitor is turned off will the desktop boot to the monitor thats on (full screen) or will it act like its dual monitors and only show half the page, meaning i would need to have both monitors on at the same time. i have tried to research this but i keep coming up with gaming set ups for dual screen application and thats not what i want

if you can help i'd appreciate it

thanks & regards

alex

The computer only detects if a display is connected, not if it is turned on or off. If you plug in both the monitor and TV, if you were to turn one off the PC will still behave as if there are two displays connected.
If you only want to use the TV at certain times, just leave the display cable unplugged.
