I want to make a budget rig for gaming (Diablo III, Gothic Arcania 4, Crysis series, BF , Assassin creed series, NFS and so on ...). Everyday work like office applications, web surfing and for other uses like light photoshop editing , some video format transforming.

Well, I intend to depend on AMD Phenom II X4 955 OR Intel Pnetium G2020 with Graphics Card 7750 or 7770 with 1 GB GDDR5 and 4 GB DDR3 Rams.

which choice is better ? I think Phenom will be better in Games/Application performance, but what about its upgrade path compared to G2020 ? and how much difference between 2 CPUs in application/games performance?

Also, I'd like to ask about choosing a good and cheap MOBO supporting SATA III and USB 3.0. I dont care about Cross Fire or SLI, I may consider trying OC later in the future.

More about : phenom g2020

I say go with the Phenom, but get an AM3+ motherboard so later on you can upgrade the CPU if you wish to the Vishera FX. Cheapest for your money and will be faster than the G2020.

Both of those CPU's are not very powerful and are quite old at this point. I believe they will not perform as well as you expect. If you let us know your budget we could recommend something else?

Phenommmmmm! Chuck a 3rd party cooler on there and OC that beast.

I think your graphics card will bottleneck both CPUs anyway before they reach max potential, so I would go with the cheapest selection and put more money into a GPU

ya those cpu's are for extreme budget gaming. paired with a 7770 your gonna be at low settings at best. id say a core i3 at least or a fx6100.

Thank you all for quick response :)

By how much do you think phenom would be faster than G2020 in games and everyday application ?

Are you sure ? do you think both CPUs would make a bottleneck !
according to this reply ... http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/359269-28-will-pentiu...

i3 is not better than G860 by high score, and G2020 is better than G860 by slight bit. lets say G processor is an i3 without HT, which not all games would use it and

 both cpu can handle upto hd 7850 without bottlenecking

^ g2020 is 6%faster than g850

well i can,t say anything between pentium and phenom x965.they mostly are equal in most games

but x965 has an edge due to 4core

try to use tomshardware cpu charts online , compare CPUs like G2020 to phenom II X4 955 to i3 3220, you will notice better performance in real application testing (lower is better) , and games are better by few frames in case of G2020

BTW, i didnt find G2020 so i used G630 in the comparison instead

Apologies, I meant both CPUs will bottleneck the graphics cards, so I would go for the cheaper CPU and put the extra money into a better GPU

:o fftopic:how do you get that wiggling figure smiley?

using a 7850 with 4gb of rams would be pointless.

Both cpus have the same performance but the phenom is better since it overclocks and in the future games will be utilizing all the cores of the cpu.

well, may someone kindly explain this comparison ?
Tom's Hardware - Benchmark [25] WinZIP 16.5

here you are, you notice how phenom is better than - even - i3220 !

In gaming the i3 is better though.

Crysis II : phenom is better than i3 3220 [107 > 78]
Mafia II : i3 3220 better than phenom [16.9 > 11.4]

most of times (below is better) is better in case of phenom .

i just want to know from experience of members who used these CPUs, which CPU is REALLY better, and how much one is better than another one ????

i think G2020 < i3 3220 < Phenom II X4 955 in applications performance.
and G2020 < phenom II X4 955 < i3 3220 in case of most nowadays games.

if i am right , can someone tell me difference by percentage (approx.) between these CPUs.

youre going in circles buddy. you just asked the same question you asked in your OP. but none of the answers are satisfying you.

Just spend a little more, put an i5 in there and not even worry about it.

Your build isn't going to satisfy you at running the games that you have mentioned. Spend the extra to get the fx 6300 and the gtx 650ti boost (2gb) and you're set to run all those games at medium and in some circumstances medium-high with playable frame-rates. There's no point trying to get extremely low budget or higher than you can afford hardware, if you're not going to be satisfied by it or just can't plain afford it. So get some mid-range hardware like I've suggested and you're set. The ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0 AM3+ mobo should be good for your build, but I suggest you do some research on other mobo's too.
