I want to solve this problem, should I upgrade my Processor or upgradation of RAM is enough? if upgradation of processor is necessary then which processor to be purchased?

Reinstall windows should provide a temporary fix. Upgrading processor is not that simple for old processors. My advice upgrade ram and get a SSD.

we don't even know if his mobo can be upgraded. or what os he uses. a ssd would be pointless on a 32bit xp system.

judging from the specs he gave the ram probably is DDR2 and if the ram is DDR2 then there is a fair possibility that his mobo supports sata 2 so SSD will be a nice upgrade. Also why do you think the SSD will be useless? Even if he has sata 1 it will boost the speeds significantly.

xp's ssd support is dismal even if it does recognize it. 4+ gb of ram and a ssd win7 rig would see a big improvement. sata 1 and a ssd on a xp rig? worthless upgrade for 5 seconds in load times.
