Hello all, I'm starting to get back into PC gaming and i thought i should really upgrade. So my CPU is a FX-6200 black edition (not oc'ed yet) and a Powercolor 7770. my question is, if i get a Powercolor 7870 Myst Ed. will my CPU bottleneck it? if so could i overclock it so its less of a burden? the CPU cooler i have now is a Coolmaster hyper Evo 212 (dual fans). Also how far do you think i could over clock it with that cooler? or do you think i should change my CPU altogether or get a phenom x4 965?. My budget is $300.

Other specs:
Ram: 16gb gskill 1600mhz
SSD: Samsung 120gb (cant remember the model number)
PSU: 900 wats
Case: Coolmaster Elite 430

If based on Tom's benchmark , yes your cpu will bottleneck ur GPU in gaming ~
But tat is depend on ur gaming resolution ~
By the way can wrote out the Whole name of ur PSU ?
If ur PSU is true 900W , u can upgrade further in future ~
If u wan to OC , I wont able to help , becoz I nvr OC CPU , sry for unable have help on tat ~

If tat resolution , tat GPU wont have anything problem with it .
Just tat ur CPU might bottlenecking it ..
so u might wont get much performance between ur current 7770 and new 7870 myst.ed.
It is depend on the game u play.
Because most game are Intel CPU optimized.
In some game like Crysis 3 , ur CPU might bottleneck the new GPU ~

I disagree, a fx-6200 would not bottleneck a 7870. And you also have the set up to do a overclock on your

CPU, which would give you even more fps if you needed it. I agree the fx-6200 isnt ideal for gaming. Because there

are better gaming CPU's in that price bracket. But since you already own one. We must move pass that. So you would

be fine with a 7870. Provided you have a good enough power supply to run it.
