Hey guys, I'm in a spot of bother and would really value your help.

I have a Gigabyte Z68MA-D2H-B3 motherboard, and I'm trying to update the BIOS as I heard that can give improved performance in games from doing so.

I discovered this website: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-p...x?pid=3855#bios and downloaded the F10 BIOS update. When I try to run it, it says that it is not 64-bit compatible.

I then discovered this forum thread with a guy who was having the same problem, but I'm a little confused as to what to do: http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2260408

If anyone could help me, perhaps direct me through what to do, I would be incredibly grateful.

Thanks in advance, I desperately need it.

I have an i5 2550k and an ATI 7950 if that makes any difference. Thanks again.

If bios is v.F10 or ealier then use a FAT16/FAt32 formatted pen drive and copy over the bios bin file to it, reboot and hit END or F8 to use QFlash from within the bios. Page 64 of manual !

If using the new BETA v.U1C UEFI bios, then follow the instructions that came with the bios download.
You have get a USB thumb drive, format it with fat32, and make it bootable to dos. then boot to dos, and upgrade the bios from there.

There's a free HP utility for creating a bootable USB drive:
http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/...mat-Tool.shtml
Add the DOS version bios flasher from Gigabyte:
"efiflash.exe" or "flashefi.exe".
Then: configure the autoexec.bat file to flash the bios when the machine is booted from the USB drive.
Latest Gigabyte beta bioses:

I think I flashed it properly, but I did it slightly differently. When I put the files on the USB stick, I pressed DEL and changed the startup(?) order, making the USB stick first in-line, as opposed to my hard-drive. It says successfully installed, then said /C: so I just hit the restart button on my tower and made my hard-drive first in-line. I think that's installed properly, right?

Thanks guys.

Alright I did what you said and used QFlash. It had two options, update from BIOS (I think? perhaps it said update BIOS from USB), and the other said Save to BIOS. Am I right in doing both? The first one installed and said 'Success', and the second simply ran through and was fine. I then restarted the PC, did I do it right?
