Hope someone can help;

Bought a HD6450 as my HD5870 was running hot (82C idle) with an HDMI (TV) and DVI (monitor) connected at the same time. With 5870 in main PCI-e (DVI) and 6450 in bottom PCI-e (HDMI) windows displays correctly but video and windows (dragging windows, loading/hiding start screen etc) lags like crazy. 6450 in middle PCI-e slot doesn't get recognised.

Video and windows when running with both screens on 5870 is smooth but runs hot so fan is too loud to watch the video anyway. Reseating and re-pasting 5870 didn't seem to help much.

Components;

Asus HD5870
XFX HD6450
Intel X9650 proc
Windows 8 (64bit)
Tried AMD catalyst 13.1 and 13.2 beta 7 drivers
8Gb RAM

Thanks!

You cant crossfire two differend cards!

And for hot issue I would make sure that it gets enough power trought 6-pin connectors. If its ok I would raise fan speed (MAX if its not already).But most of all make sure that you buy good fans for the case since they blow air in and out and cool everything down.

Hi, I wasn't crossfiring them. I was extending the desktop to the second monitor.

You can have two card only if you use one for physics. When you have two differend only one would get recognised.
