Hi, wasn't sure what area to post this under so went for this one.
Recently I switched to a different comp as my old one was on it's last legs and decided to build a cheap one myself.
the components i used are
I3 3220
seagate 500gb hdd
ocz zx550w psu
4gb ram
asus p8z77-v lx motherboard
Windows 7 64bit

I plugged the speakers into it from my old comp and i'm using the onboard sound. I have been getting fairly regular loud pops from the speakers, regular as in they seem to happen a few times each day rather than every few minutes. A few days ago i noticed that when i plugged in or unplugged a usb device that the sound that is meant to play for it either only sounds partially or sounds as a static crackle until the device is fully pulled out. I also noticed that when installing or uninstalling programs if i am watching or listening to something that the sound will briefly stutter sometimes, not exactly sure what is causing it as most of the time the sound is fine. Any ideas please?

What PC case do you have? Sounds like a grounding issue to me. When I fist bought my Antec 902, I would have the same issue with the front panel analog jack -- being right next to 2 USB ports I pulled face off and found a loose ground strap. Either way, sounds like a ground

It was a fairly cheap case but seemed decently designed, it's a coolermaster 430 elite.
I don't use the usb ports on the case though only the ones on the motherboard, haven't even connected the case wires to supply power to the case ports, the motherboard ports are right next to the audio jacks though and I guess i should add that my speaker system is around 5 years old.

Hmm how can i tell if it's a ground problem on a motherboard socket? I haven't received any shocks from the case or when adding or removing stuff. I tend to forget to use the safely remove hardware option when removing them would that have any affect? did notice the motherboard design is such that the onboard usbs are right next to the analog sound sockets.
