Please excuse this question for it probably has been asked in the past. I have overclocked my i7 2600k from 3.4 to 4.9.

My question is how fair is it to compare to a current Ivy Bridge processor? Is my overclock processor really faster just cause of the fast Ghz?

Larry

At the same clock speed, an Ivy Bridge is about 5-10% faster, depending on the application. So your 4.9Ghz i7-2600 would perform like a 4.5-4.7Ghz i7-3770k. However, it is less likely to get a 3770 to run 4.9Ghz because they run hotter. So you are probably on par with most well overclocked Ivy Bridge i7's.

In other words, your processor is about as fast as you can get currently and you should be very happy with it.

I believe the voltage is around the 1.4-1.5v and I am using the H100 cooler and plus my MB is Asus Game of Republic board which does really well for OC...
