Ok i started playing the old republic online wich runs adequate (though not brilliantly) only if i alt tab the game at any point my monitor goes out of range. this is fixed by simply alt tabbing back into the game. The real problem starts when i close the game down and my monitor goes out of range?? the only thing i can do is reboot in safe-mode uninstall the nvidea drivers and the enter windows normally. but if i try to re install the drivers my monitor goes back out of range?? i have had to re install windows in order to reinstall my drivers without the same problem? i was assured the issue had been fixed via a patch but it has now happened again. is there any way i can sort this out without re installing windows.?

Start up by tapping F8 like you would if you wanted to go into safe mode. This time instead of selecting safe mode choose Enable low-resolution video. This will boot the machine up at 640x480 then you can simply put the resolution back to what it should be.
Short term fix though sorry. I'm not sure how to prevent it happening again.
