1.5 or 3GB, do I make a change?

I currently have two GTX 580's 1.5 GB versions and I'm noticing most new games are taxing the video ram. I feel like the cards have the power to run higher settings, yet I can't since my vram is maxed out. This is especially apparent in Crysis 3. While it plays well enough on very high at 1080p, i really can't turn on any type of traditional AA. I feel this gap will only widen when new games start releasing, especially ones that are built for the newer consoles.

My question is should I search around and try to replace my current setup with two GTX 580's 3GB versions? If I can do the entire change after I've sold mine for $200 or so is it worth it. Or should I just wait for the 7 series from nvidia?

My only concern with waiting for the new cards is buying them sometime mid year then DX 12 is released and I'm instantly obsolete after spending a lot of money.

700 series will get released in 2014, this information was brought by Nvidia at PAX East (I've been following the event).

If your PC mainly is for gaming, then it would make no sense buying another pair of GTX 580 with 3 GB of VRAM, they're priced around the same as a GTX 670/680. Right now I use a GTX 670 at 1080p, no games but modded Skyrim has eaten over 2 GB of vram.
The 600 series add lots of cool stuff to the table, such as adaptive vsync and TXAA. And your electrical bill will decrease, while you get more performance. There are also 4 GB versions of the GPUs, if you really want so much VRAM, so you're sure on the safe side. :)
