Does anyone have any experience with one of these:

or

http://www.centrix-intl.com/details.asp?productid=9759&gclid=CKnVjIbWrLYCFaiiPAodSxcAdg

I'm building an HTPC and would like to dedicate all my SATA ports to HDDs (using the ASUS P8Z77-I Deluxe, which only has 4 SATA connections).

It has 8 USB ports, which I will never use.

Worst case, with USB 2.0 I'm looking at being limited to a 4X Blu-Ray drive (54Mbps x 4 = 216Mbps, with USB 2.0 rated at 280 Mbps effective thruput).

But I haven't tried anything like this before. Does anyone have any experience. Any pitfalls with this configuration?

Thanks!

Update - the first link won't work for what I'm trying to accomplish. It looks like the 2nd link (centrix) has the conversion from SATA to USB.

the second link looks like its intended for slim optical drives. the board layout would give you trouble with a standard 5.25 optical drive.

This (LINK) is probably what your looking for, and its USB3.0 (may need to modify the header cable)

I'm looking for slimline sata connection. I'll have to do more research to find the right part #. I'm primarily wondering if anyone in the community has done something like this, or has any thoughts as to whether it's even a good idea.

Thanks.
