Ok i have just built a computer fro my brother and his birthday iss tomorrow, i have installed a New amd CPU, new mobo, but i have kept his old HDD that was in a intel cpu and different mobo computer. I have installed his previous HDD with nothing changed to it. I tried to boot the computer and it will not boot to Win XP(the OS he had) it loads forever then after so long is glimpse a BSOD error for .5 second. Then reboots and fails everytime, i can get it into safe mode, and use it though. But he as to much to back up and there is little that he can Backup. Does anyone now what i can do i need Help ASAP. I want to suprise him with a new computer.

I have already tried clearing cmos btw

Exactly as Chugot9218 said, each platform has a different Hardware Abstraction Layer, requiring a clean install when you change platforms, especially switches between AMD and Intel. It might be a good idea to (if the HDD is big enough) partition the hard drive before you add the new os or get a second HDD or SSD for the new os so the old files aren't lost.
