I want to do a custom water loop for my PC and people recommend doing a 24 hour drip test.

My question is, is it harmful to your PSU to keep it jumped for 24 hours? Ive read that under-loading it makes it run hot and could do permanent damage, is this true? Thanks!

Lower wattage does degrease efficiency(but if you draw 10 watts and loose another 5 watts to heat, it will be far from harmful to the power supply.),

but it was more older power supplies that wanted to see a minimum load.

If you are worried, connect up an old hard drive or 2 and let them eat some extra power :)

My media centers power supply runs under 20% load(on its 300 watt power supply and it had it on a 650 for a while for some testing) almost all the time and keeps on going.
