ASUS Radeon 7850 fails to boot up on Gigabyte X58 motherboard :(

Recently replaced my old Sapphire Radeon 4850 with a new ASUS Radeon 7850 (DC2-2GD5-V2) and haven’t been able to boot up with it in Windows 7 ( i.e. I get no video and the motherboard POST stops at error code “2b”) I should clarify: Technically I can boot up fine with it, but following Window's 7800 drivers update, all subsequent boots yield the same problem: No video, can't get past POST error code 2b (Video-card related according to manual)

I’ve tried a number of things, but no luck so far ( i.e. inserting it in a different PCIEx16 slot, double-checking the wattage ) The 4850 still works fine if I re-insert it.

Looking for any suggestions from anyone who’s had a similar plight, so I hopefully don’t have to return it ( been itching to play Bioshock Infinite :] ) The only thing I think that could be causing the problem is my motherboard, it conforms to PCI Express 2.0, while the video card is rated as 3 (though I’ve read on other forums that shouldn’t be a problem ?)

My specs:
Motherboard: Gigabyte X58 GA-EX58UD5 3-way Crossfire ( BIOS: vF13 )
CPU: Intel i7-920 2.66GHz 8M LGA
Power Supply: Kingwin 680 Watt
OS: Windows 7 64-bit ( 6gb RAM )

Thanks!
Joey

Uh oh, that doesn't sound good :| Card seems to work beautifully on the first boot-up, your experience really was the same?
