I read through the forums as well as outside reviews, regarding several KVM switches, which have been available on the market over the last two years or so.
Specifically, I'm looking in the price range under $50...so I'm not looking for the most expensive and latest tech, but I don't want to pick up a piece of junk either.
I'm seeing too many bad reviews, suggesting that many KVM switches (at least in my target price range) suffer from a short life span or reports that the video quality is poor... running into issues with blurriness and ghosting and diminished video quality.
I have 2 PC desktop computers and would like to be able to share the same USB keyboard, mouse and monitor (at least for now). The monitor is an older LG widescreen, which only has VGA input.
One PC is is going to be used mostly for the internet browser. It's a pretty old HP desktop, so it doesn't have and video output except for VGA.
The second computer is a build I'm completing right now. This PC will be strictly for gaming, so my video output will be via a MSI HD 6950.
Are there any KVM's in my under $50 price range that would fit my application?
I realize I'll already have to get an adapter, to run my gaming graphics card into the VGA monitor. (ie: DVI output to VGA input)
I just don't want to loose graphics/resolution quality (which would be counterproductive) by running my gaming PC through a KVM switch, if doing so will hurt gaming quality and be a headache.
If need be, I can buy a second-hand cheap keyboard and mouse ( for the old PC) and then just share the same monitor, .....even if I have to swap the VGA wire back and forth between PC's as needed, but surely even that will get old quite quickly.
