I downloaded the driver install for the RAT 5 gaming mouse
When I plugged it in it detected it fine and the mouse works
but when I try to install the drivers for it so that the software works it gets to the part where it's installing the drivers and says that it may take some time and then disconnects my mouse and appears to hang.
If I stop the install the drivers for my mouse fail and my normal mouse stops working, I successfully uninstalled the drivers and got my mouse to work again and had the same situation as above when I attempted to reinstall it. This time I'm going to leave it on as long as possible this time but so far I've waited 2 hours after the mouse was disconnected (as in it's still lit up but it doesn't work). I'm not sure how long this is supposed to take but I'm pretty sure it's not supposed to take more than 2 hours.

Another question should I actually install the driver cause it seems to work without the driver (instead of installing the driver provided I'll just keep with the one that windows installed) the only problem is that the software can't detect the mouse so it'll just be a fancy adjustable preset DPI mouse. Please help and thank you.

i bet you'll come back in in a few months with a problems such as the laser sensor is intermittent or stopped working, because that's what happened to my rat 5 and almost 7 mouse, i returned it and got a corsair m65, it's the closest mouse to the rat because it has a precision button and is aluminium but is also better quality and has better software.
