Strange Muffled Voices

A few months ago I bought a Sound Blaster Recon 3D Fatal1ty Sound card for my PC, I at first had issues with it. Many sounds, most notably voices, sounded muffled. After a few hours of tinkering I eventually fixed it. I believe it was a system restore that did the job. Recently, I took apart my PC to clean it and rearrange some hardware so Everything fit better and to move my sound card off of a 16x pci-e port and onto a 1x. Now, the muffled voices problem is back. I've tried reinstalling the drivers, tweaking settings, and a system restore (which did it the first time). I've searched up and down the web trying to find a fix for this with no success. Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you might want to check your gain maybe to high you might want to look at settings for environment also some games have problems with frequency settings try lowering frequency settings for quality.

Also the most common cause is having 5.1/7.1 settings using stereo speakers make sure you have the proper setting for your speaker type and some games do not work properly with dolby digital best to disable.
Also sound settings in some games may have to be tweaked they may not support 5.1 properly also does your speakers have SPDIF connector you may want to try this test program as well.
5.1 speaker test

I've done some more testing and it seems that my center speaker and subwoofer are not responding to test signals from the sound options bar. I did recently get new speakers but they worked fine before the hardware changeup.

Also, when i switch to stereo everything seems to work okay, even though it should work on 5.1 surround...

Ok I figured out what the issue was. As dumb as it makes me feel I will say that the problem was that One of the wires for my speaker system was loose. I must have not plugged it in very well when I was setting my system back up. I Thank You for your input. It did help me narrow my issues.
