Howdy folks,

As stated in the thread title, I'm hoping I can get some help diagnosing some trouble I've got here. When running the 'Heaven' benchmark, I get this weird blue artifacting all over the stones, but only when tessellation is turned on. Links below:

This only happens if I've got tessellation turned on. I would automatically think 'software error', except I've also noticed an intermittent flicker in the screen while playing Mass Effect, which I never saw previously on my old PC.

This PC was bought from Cyberpower. I've already RMA'ed the first 7970 in my dual card setup as it had obvious problems in the form of major artifacts in game, as well as a stick of RAM, so the quality of the parts are a little suspect.

This card seems to run Metro 2033 alright, but that blasted flicker in Mass Effect is bothering me. It's not even a rendering flicker; it's more like the screen flashes for 1/100th of a second and I can see my desktop and any open windows underneath it; that coupled with the tessellation glitch makes me wonder if I've gotten a pair of bum cards.

This card also runs about 4 degrees hotter than the other bad card, though tech support says a good card should be hotter than a bad one (I'm talking 72 degrees at full load vs the other card's 68). This sounds a bit fishy to me.

My drivers are the latest signed batch (13.1). If anyone can lend their expertise or opinion, I appreciate it; I've still got time to get it replaced, and will if it's bad. And of course, I'm brand new to Pc building, so if more information about my rig is needed, I'll be happy to oblige. Thanks!

Different problems with multiple games that run on different engines makes me suspect hardware problem. You're not the only person on the internet with this problem on AMD cards. My uneducated guess would be a memory issue or shader problem, but it's pretty tough to diagnose.

Do you still have 2 cards? If so, run each by itself and see what happens. Like, physically remove one from the case and run the system with just one GPU like a disgusting commoner. If you get artifacts on one and not the other that's a pretty clear indicator.

I do, but the second one is sitting on a bookshelf waiting for its replacement; it had massive artifacting problems (some sections of the screen would turn into code, while in others squares with a mosaic problem would appear after a short period of time). I guess I can kill two birds with one stone though; when the replacement comes, swap it in and run it. I can check for problems with it, and if the stones don't turn blue then I guess this one's bad as well. Just wish I had a bit more certainty.

It's funny, when I was a disgusting commoner :p I never had these problems. My single 5770 still runs perfectly to this day, but unfortunately weeps in agony when I throw new games like the Witcher 2 at it.

That being said, if anyone has encountered this problem or has any other suggestions, keep em coming! Thanks!
