All the sudden when I pulled out my flash memory pouch filled with flash drives and SD cards, 3 out of my 4 SD cards will not be recognized by any computer! It's like they all died....2 were the exact same 2GB and one was a 1GB.

More about : dead cards

In what way are they not recognized? Does windows just not even aknoladge that there's something plugged in, or does it give an error message?

It does not even acknowledge that something is plugged in. Nothing happens at all

How are you plugging these cards in? Might it be a mostly dead USB card reader?

Are they name brand microsd cards? Non -name brand ones tend to die fast. Though it is a bit odd for 3 of them to die. Are the contacts dirty?

Also if you are on an xp machine you should use the "safely remove hardware" option to avoid any problems. Borked a number of flash drives like this. Don't know if its needed on windows 7/vista, its just habit to do it now..

Sorry didn't see you replied. 2 of them are 2GB toshiba sd's and one is a 1GB Lexar. I run Windows 7 and I always safely remove even if its not necessary.

Have u updated your USB drivers? Or did u get a new card reader? Have u checked the "dead cards" on a computer other than yours?

Have you ever used these sd cards with your pc before? Some sd card readers will not read SDHC sd cards. Also the sd card reader may be broken. Sometimes sd cards do go but not normally 3 at once.

Have you taken them to your local Geek Squad or Tiger Direct (formerly Comp USA) technician to check?
