Your TV is only capable of receiving 60hz of info. 120hz/240hz/600hz are all done on a max of 60hz worth of images. They insert additional frames made up by the TV to create 120hz or 240hz of data, or in the case of the 600hz TV's, the create a sort of pulsing affect that is supposed to make it look smoother. These don't work for PC's, which render real time data, as they have horrible latency.

To the best of my knowledge the TV can only receive 60 hz from the video card. TVs refresh their own images, meaning your GPU inputs a 60hz signal to the TV, and the TV changes it to 120 or 240, etc. It creates an interpolation in between each actual frame recieved from the source, in your case the video card, and creates the frames in between to increase the refresh rate.

Nice link. I'll save it for the ignorant that often don't believe there is a difference between 120hz tv and monitor.
