I'm not sure what forum to post this in due to it not being a os problem or hardware problem but for some reason when ever im playing a game and I close it or a software I close its still running in the processes tab in task manager when I've closed it like for instance I'm playing alot of apb I won't notice it's running in processes tab unless my desktop starts being really laggy and my CPU cores are maxed out still and finding out im running 3 apb's in the back ground like after I play it once I take a break few hours later play again since I leave my pc on I stop playing it to the day and open it back up the next day and to find the game runnin 3x in the process tab is there some reason why my pc is doing it I really hate it because it dose it when I don't know if its doing it or not

Yes I use Microsoft Security Essentials and at the moment for a while it has been bit fudged in a way it has scan for virus on a daily scan but it won't so I have to manually press scan but no it has not detected anything virus related for months and I'm rocking the windows 7 64bit built the pc last year about 10 months ago and yes sometimes it just updates with out my say so kinda annoying when sometimes I have limited data

Off topic, but you can set Windows Update to only download updates when you tell it to. Check in Control Panel for the settings.
I find process Explorer to be better than the basic Task manager:

Use it to see if anything dodgy or unfamiliar is running in the background. You can also close the offending duplicate applications manually if needed.

Hmm I had thought I had chosen for windows update to only download and install when I tell it to guess it must of changed some how but the game I was playing n others like bf3 and MoH and Simcity etc should not be running if I close them or exit the game so is there to no clue why they are after I exit them?
