New PC New Monitor no work

the monitor is brand new and the pc to basically the pc works turns on and the guy i bought it from showed me to on his monitor it worked but my brand new when its a black screen simple montior aoc 21.5 inch power cord vga cables? what is the problem

It could even be the PC... have you checked to see if it detects your inputs? you could try a friend's monitor and see if it works, you could try and use a different cable. You also have to make sure you plugged the monitor into it's power source. I'm sorry, but you did not provide enough info as to what you're seeing... is it on, and the screen is lighting up black, or is it not turning on at all? This thread is also in the wrong section.
